When elderly family members want to eat the same things every day, it's natural to worry about nutritional deficiencies and the need to encourage them to eat different foods. However, during periods of decreased appetite, it's important to consider things from a slightly different perspective.
Having something to eat is very important.
People with a poor appetite may not eat anything, no matter what you offer. In such cases, having one food that they can eat, like curry, is by no means a bad thing.
There's no need to force yourself to change your menu.
If you force someone to eat different dishes because you think "eating the same thing every day isn't good," they might end up disliking eating altogether. You can also make adjustments to their favorite dishes to supplement their nutrition, such as adding an egg, cheese, or a little extra meat.
Things that only family can do
Instead of saying, "Curry again?", try saying, "We got to eat it again today!" Such a comment can lead to a more positive attitude towards meals.
